Territory managers are typical in consumer product manufacturing organizations, such as Black & Decker and Newell Rubbermaid. Territory managers typically are responsible for sales at distribution partners' stores in a given area. They work to make sure that partners stores such as Wal-Mart or Home Depot properly merchandise the company's products, advise them on new products, and generally work as account managers for major accounts. Territory managers often are responsible for a group of field representatives.
