Experience: 4 to 5 years
The technical sales rep is a combination of an account manager, product specialist, and market expert. The sales rep is assigned to a customer or group of customers (depending on size of customer) whom she persuades, based on the merits of her company's product, to purchase the product. She often travels, is on site with the customer, and has deep technical knowledge of a product. The job, then, requires that special blend of sales and communication skills combined with an ability to explain technology.
